Shoe Report Friday: Booties for Fall

There is no mistaking that booties are once again "in" for this Fall/Winter season. With choices ranging from ruffles to spikes to chains (OH YES!) one can be a bit intimidated when searching for that perfect pair. Rest assured my stylish friends pulling off the look is as easy as 1, 2, 3. They can be paired with mini skirts, jeggings, rompers, skinny jeans, pencil skirts, or just about anything you can imagine. Just make it stylish and keep it hawt!

I can remember back to when I was a bit put off, for lack of a better word at the site of booties. No worries, I have gotten over that temporary bout of insanity. I believe that hesitation can be attributed to the fact that I had not given them a fair try. I recall the ones I wore that changed my mind forever, they were black suede 5in booties with a side buckle *heaven*

I have not yet started shopping for my Fall/Winter boot collection but I have been browsing the web and checking my favorite shoe stores for the most unique styles. Yes, everyone around me knows that I'm a bit extra. I make no apologies though because FAB is what I do. :)

Enough of my rambling...enjoy these pics. Hopefully they will motivate you to get out and shoe shop!

What is that VELVET???

Ralph Lauren Fall 2010

Velvet is a timeless fabric with a soft and silky texture (there I go with the fabrics again...lol). Velvet once only used in royalty has now stuck its head out again through the creative talents of some of our most favorite designers.  Let the evolution begin!!!!!  It takes a true sense of courage to wear velvet.  It has not always had the best reputation over the fashion years.  People see velvet and immediately thing, "old lady".  But, no more.  Velvet is now saturated with glam and sophistication.  It is extremely versatile and is now one of the most sought after textiles in the industry.

Rochas Fall 2010

If you are not all that stylish or fail to possess that fashionista like quality, there are ways to wear velvet without looking....um.....matronly or like Elizabethan age royalty. LOL.

How to wear velvet:
          1.  Wear only one velvet item at a time.  NEVER wear more than one at any given
time.  Unless, you want to be talked about....badly.
          2.  Because velvet is already going to be the outfit & the accessories, you really
don't need to accessorize.  But, if you do...wear dainty items or one jeweled
item.  Anything else will make you look like a haute blazing royal mess.
          3.  I shouldn't even have to say it, but velvet is best worn in the Fall and Winter
               months.

These are the basics.  If you put it on and you you look in the mirror and question the outfit, chances are something needs a lil tweeking.  LOL.

Giorgio Armani Fall 2010

Velvet is no longer just being used for prom dresses and formal wear.  It has taken a turn and for the better.  I personally have 3-4 items in my style catalog. My favorite is a short tailored coat/jacket.   I love to layer the coat with a very flowy scarf that can be wrapped around the neck a few times.  I often pair the velvet jacket with a pair of skinny jeans and really cute booties that have hardware on them.  See, not royal huh?  Don't go trying to steal my look, be original. LOL.

Alexander Wang Fall 2010

Keep it clean and neat.  Let the velvet wear it self.  You don't need to help it stand out as it is a show stopper on it own.  The above designers have created some awesome pieces to get you started in you quest to add a little velvet into your life.  Still not sure? Well check out the two links that I have left below and get a feel of how you want to see YOU in the new and improved designer world of VELVET.

HAUTE Head!

Who reaaaaaaally want to know the history of hats?  And how they were first created because the church said that a woman's hair must be covered?  Covered schmovered!  Lets talk about how a hat (in fashion) was a man's accessory and a woman's necessity.  Let's talk about the remedy to a bad hair day.  Let's talk hats.  More than that...lets talk about how hats are now hitting the runway annnnnnnnd on its own... that's right...without garments.
If you have read any of my blogs you would know that I am a fabric and textile retard.  I love texture and the uniqueness that it brings into fashion and accessories.  Hats started with the finest straw.  If there is such a thing.  I mean 'fine buckwheat' does not have a ring to it.  LOL.  Hats later graduated to silks with lace trims and such.  Today...a hat is made from just about everything...from rubber to tin to toilet paper.
Ok Ok...I'm sorry.  It was too funny not to add it.  LOL.  Anyway, the hat was never considered an accessory, but I am so impressed with the way that it had paved its way to landing the starring role instead of being a supporting actor.  Hats are HAUTE!!!!.  Much like sunglasses, they provide a little mystery, but they can also add sex appeal to a boring outfit.

As much and I love you Kim K.  your outfit in this pic is boo boo...but you were rockin that hat girl!  You have to know how to wear a hat.  What to do, what not to do.  What to wear it with and what NOT to wear it with.  *smh* Damn Kim!  Alllllrighty then, back to hats...fedoras are definintely the most popular of the hat family, but the many cousins of hats are not far behind.

I admire hat wearers. Heck I admire hats.  I often wish my hat collection could mimic my bag collection, unfortunately...its not so.  Hats say,"You're cool man."  Its a statement without speech.  The hat is the model, your head is the runway.  So, in the words of RuPaul.."You betta work!" (just in case you want to hear the song.... Supermodel ) LOL

Personali-TEES

Remember when t-shirts were just an article of clothing that you would throw on?  Or it was a last resort outfit?  What about when you would see a t-shirt with a saying or logo on it that was truly hysterical?  I mean, really...t-shirts were a conversation starter, comic relief, and a laundry day savior.  A few t-shirts (when in High school) actually got me into trouble.  I wasn't a goof in school but I did get my share of t-shirt detentions. Let's face it!  If you couldn't say it with your mouth, why  not let your t-shirt do the talking.  LOL

T-shirts use to be a simple wardrobe staple that offered a quick fix when the right outfit did not present itself.  But, that evolved.  Celebrities made "the t-shirt" a style.  It has now been inducted into [fashion].  Hollywood made you "uncool" if you did not partake in the t-shirt trend.  From the geeks to the gorgeous, if you're wearing a t-shirt (especially one that a celeb was seen in) you were in the IN crowd.  But, still...the t-shirt (no matter who was wearing it) was still a t-shirt.
Celebs wore them but they are still just the outfit savior.  However, now they are accompanied by paparazzi.

But, wait...someone saw a problem and a niche with the t-shirt.  Someone got the light bulb of inspiration.  A pair of scissors and craft store has now put the t-shirt on a path to couture.

Who knew that a few rips, tears, and embellishments could make a simple cotton tee look this good.  And now recon t-shirts are all the craze. Not all tee are recons though.  Some of the t-shirts are made from scratch
as a closet work of art.  Uniquely made and creatively constructed the tee has risen to a level of popularity  that has almost out ranked the almighty JEAN (that's another blog...lol).

This trend is ever growing and increasing.  Tee designers are now taking T-shirts to the runway.  Check out the images below.
*chin drop* Yes, those are made from t-shirts. I am beyond impressed.  And as much as I'd love to mirror a celeb, my t-shirts (99% baby tees...hee hee) are still the perfect marital relationship with my jeans and the savior to my missed laundry days. Believe me, I know how to make my jeans blush and my hamper jealous....just wear a T-shirt! :)

Legg or Thigh

Leggings and thigh socks...what once was simple exercise wear has now become one of the sexiest fashion statements a woman can wear.  When worn properly of course (you know who you are, *wink*).  Patterns and textures, and colors! OH MY!.  Leggings could possibly become the [temporary] replacement to jeans.  Get your panties out of a bunch...I said 'possibly', geesh!

The thigh high sock (cousin to the thigh high stocking) purposely exposes a hint of skin to allow a little mystery to a woman's *cough* other regions.  No matter what your personal style there is a legging or thigh sock for you.  These leggs & thighs are a hot versatile look for any season.  And you can wear them with just about anything.

What?  Where can you get some of these stylish leggings and thigh socks?  I thought you would never ask.  LOL.  Seriously, one of my favorite brands of leggings is by HUE.  Hue is a win win situation for me. Even if I am not looking to purchase any leggings, I seem to find something really stylish and funky.  And besides all that, they are totally affordable.  I also love to shop SHOPSTYLE.  There is an array of leggings and thigh socks (among other fashions) to choose from.

One of my FETISH!!!!

Yes!! One of my FETISH, besides limited edition Louis Vuittons, bold stilettos etc. --- SUNGLASSES!!! I have about close to hundred pairs of great sunglasses from Ferragamo, Dior, Chanel, LV, Prada to Versace. I love them all!! Some of you might say.. oh she is bragging about her name brand accessories! OH WELL!!! I worked hard and smart to acquire them so I suggest you do the same! Smiles!

However, let us welcome my next fetish victim – GALLIANO!!! I have always been a fan of him! Now, this is making me remember the time when my Aunt gave me a pair of Galliano Jeans, they were oh so amazing! *drools! Ok, let me stop before I reach my climax!

As this magnificent designer says, “Sunglasses are the ultimate accessory and alibi. They are status symbols that exude luxury, as well as mystery. They protect the private gaze as well as frame an image of chic, anytime, anywhere.”
I must say that this quote is the one that truly stands out for me, to what is the importance of having a pair of sunglasses. A total STATUS SYMBOL and the MYSTERY behind those frames! Loving it!!

The Hero: Beau Regard; The Heroine: Les Biches

“I created pure Galliano Glamour, fusing function and high-fashion and morphing faces and frames to create the ultimate sunglasses collection. Day, night, any season, anywhere, strike a pose as long as it’s in Galliano,” utters this iconic designer.

Oh! Galliano just touches that spot!! Keep it coming!! Ohhhh i'm coming, i'm coming!!
